Has anyone noticed that Neon is not taking product registrations any more? See message I received from Neon below. I was going to buy nconvert, having recently dusted off my Revo, but timing out of demo makes it not worth starting with. 2connectu is fine but takes up a lot of space and includes unnecessary functions. Any chance of exploring Neuon products as abandonware?

Aidan,
Sorry for the problems. Unfortuneatly, Neuon is no longer taking registrations. We're
sorry for the inconvience, and lack of notice.
Regards,
Ben

Hi Aidan,
Interesting. I've been aware for some time that Neuon weren't taking registrations but this is the 1st time I've seen them confirm it. I'll get in touch with Ben and see if he'll give me permission to release the programs. I'll let you know here what response I get.
In the meantime, if anyone is looking for a Neuon app./reg., please let me know.
Thanks,
Martin |

Update: I've been in touch with Ben at Neuon and he's opened access for downloads again - he didn't mean to close it on the front page and intends to keep it open for downloading. Still, I've raised the question of apps. going freeware and he's checking with the various authors. Will advise.

Hello Martin,
well, and this's my first post in the forum
About Neuon, maybe exists the possibility that they agree to release the source also, of some of their programs... So anyone be able to patch at least, or continue the work where they left it. It would be.. great. (But all we know what's the most common answer unfortunately..)
Could you ask them if they thought something about releasing the source of any app?
I'm thinking (for example) in nightkeys.. Which I can't use because it doesn't support special characters... accents, ñ.. and so on.

Probably so. Since Neuon is essentially a blanket collective type organisation and the individual authors retain all their rights, I think trying to make a general request for source code is unlikely to succeed. I'd approach the individual author (directly at 1st if still possible or via Neuon if not) to see if you can update/modify NightKeys...

Well, I'm in the process of putting their freeware on there. Give me a few days and it'll probably all be done.
Cheers,
Martin |

Hello,
I didn't know the program Marker.
I like the concept, but there are more programs with the same job.
MenuS5 is one of them.
In MenuS5 you can make 390 bookmarks for the S7 / nB, 260 for the 5MX and 182 for the Revo.
In Maker you can make 255 bookmarks.
In MenuS5 the bookmarks lead to folders, programs, documents and notes.
In Maker they only lead to folders
There is a problem with MenuS5, it's shareware and Marker is Freeware. |
