Is it possible to use another card reader in the PCMCIA slot other than a CF one?

I'm sure I read somewhere that it was, I would like to get an SD card working between my netBook and a work laptop that I can't pop a CF reader on.

I'm aware it must be a 16-bit PC Card one only, but the only reader I can find is one of those 6-in-1 jobs, and even though it's a 8/16-bit one I wondered if anyone knew it would work basically.

I've got one of those 6-in-1s Jon, and sorry to say it doesn't work in the Netbook/S7.

To transfer files without a PC between CF and SD, I have to use PlBeam on the netbook to talk to Peacemaker on a PocketPC (boo!) or my netbook pro which takes both CF and SD cards (shame about it's inferior OS...)

Does anyone know of a SD to CF adaptor that might work?

Well, I've tried this once, and got it working. At this very moment netBook is charging, but will try to get it all running as soon as possible. Will let you know then if and when it works also the brand of the PCMCIA adapter. I have several different brands lying around.

Just now I've tried and it works. Using a Transcend 2Gb SD card in a Targa Visionary 4 in 1 PCMCIA adapter.

SD card had some maps with photographs, but they were to big to be presented. Did show the directory complete with filenames.

Using the Psion Sketch application, saved a file to the SD. Closed the program, switched to the SD drive. Double-clicking the saved file started the Skecth program and showed my own creation!

In the past I've also used a different brand PCMCIA adapter, almost certainly it was Sandisk (xx in 1). Only the SmartMedia wasn't recognised.
