Hi I own a Psion and it uses PsiWin as its synchronisation software.
A few years back I bought the Nokia 9200 Communicator which came with PC Suite.
That version of PC Suite was incompatible with PsiWin. It needed me to uninstall PsiWin before I could install PC SUite. In fact it was almost the same software: similar desktop icons and similar
sunchronisation process.
I've no idea what version of PC Suite came with the Nokia 9200 Communicator, but I am thinking of buying an E90 Communicator (which presumably comes with the latest Nokia PC Suite) and I want to know
if PsiWin AND Nokia PC Suite can co-exist on my PC
(Hope there are some older people on this forum who remember Nokia 9200s and Psions!!)

I feel almost insulted by the older comment lol
I have Nokias' PC Suite for the Nokia N95 installed alongside PsiWin quite happily.
Hope this helps. |

Sorry JonB (for the 'older' comment), but I posted this on the Nokia discussion forums (they're all young and trendy there) and simply copied and pasted into this forum.
Thanks for your reply. Hopefully Nokia PC Suite will be suitably 'independent' from PsiWin and I'll have the same success you've had.
I was pretty gutted when I got the Nokia 9200 Communicator and the PC Software was PsiWin in disguise, so I had to choose between my Psion and my Nokia...soooooo frustrating. Worse still the SIS extension became Symbian install files rather than Epoc.
However, the E90 Nokia looks like a colour Psion Series 5 (plus wi fi, phone, bluetooth, media....drool) and I am too totally tempted by it |

Well I'm afraid being Symbian it's still going to steal your SIS association but to be fair you can right click and open with.
The E-series software is better than the old Communicator stuff but it's still no EPOC. Obviously multimedia and communications are far more advanced but you may still be quite disappointed with the office and agenda side of things.
Do let us all know what you find as a comparison though. |
