Can anyone help with the best default settings for Opera 5.14 (36) and the above?
I've looked at mobileopera.com for advice but there are a lot of choices. Have used Psions for 10 years but am new to the netBook.
Also, with all the Psion expertise using this forum couldn't some Psion programers take it a further or am I being naive?
Thank you in advance

Hello Rick,
Go to the control panel and choose Ethernet.
Make a new setting
Show connection dialog: yes
If idle: 30 min.
On exit: 0
Push then edit
Service
Configuration: DHCP
Divice: Lucent WaveLAN / Orinoco Card
Options:
Basic
WaveLan: Here your network name
Advanced
AP: high
Transmit: 11.0 Mbps
Power management
Card power: yes
Receive: yes
Maximum: 65535
Encryption
Enable encryption: Yes
Key1: your wepkey (till 64bit, 128 bit it's to high for your card)
Advanced
ARP: 1800
Go to your router
Enable the MAC-filter, the WEPKey and the IP-Filter
This is the way I work.

Thank you Kees,
My ethernet settings for the card are similar and I've changed the ones that were not.
What I'm most interested is how ALL the settings in the Preferences of Opera should be done.
Cache; Disk, Ram, Misc.
Connections; General, Performance
Documents Preferences; General, Performance
Multimedia settings
Plugin settings
In other words - everything please!
Thanks!! |

Hi Rick,
IIRC, not all the settings that you can set within Opera's menu will 'stick'. The only way to change some of them is to manually edit the Opera.ini file (not as difficult as it sounds). I have a copy of this file already optimised which I picked up somewhere. I'll post it on my site later this week (and please remind me if it hasn't appeared by Friday!).
Cheers,
Martin |

Rick try our own settings.
I have enough memory on my netBook (extra 32MB)
If Opera is slow open your cache settings.
Preferences - Cache
Disk cache
Disk cache - I have 5000 kb
cache documents yes
cache images yes
cache other yes
Empty on exit yes
Ram cache
Documents cache size 1500 kb
Images cache size 1500 kb
Misc.
check redirect documents and check redirect image: yes
This settings will speed up your Opera

I agree with Kees about the settings though I would also check 'cache rendered images' and I have my RAM cache set to 2000, but all in all I doubt it makes that much of a difference, but as Kees highlighted -- empty on exit! lol |

I uploaded it last night Kees and just checked this morning on my work PC - it's definitely there.
I think you need to flush your cache.

Yes, I think so
but I can't find it on the Xtra page even with my PC
I see:
- MagicKeys
- OandX
- Othello V2
- PhoneManPro
There isn't a file named Opera and I can't see the Opera-icon.
Please help me |
