1) Note+ news:
Dynamic Buttonbar introduced to Note+ File Manager.
It can be switched on/off using Fn+2 shortcut or via supplemental menu that is,
as usual, brought up with Fn+Menu.
There are 48 buttons in total divided into 6 sets:
Plain/ Ctrl / Shift / Ctrl+Shift / Fn / Ctrl+Fn
All buttons can be customized e.g. you can assign commands to each button.
There are more than 80 commands to choose from ("Assign Buttonbar commands"
item from supplemental menu (Fn+Menu).
All button captions/command names can be edited. If you want to split button text
into 2 lines you must use backslash(\) sign.
Necessary small adjustments are done in order to make use of Buttonbar easier.
When Buttonbar is on and it is not possible to view Notes area, in all rename/delete/
copy dialogs a preview of "note" assigned to file/folder is displayed. Also, a tip
for fervent "Notes" users - switch on "Show assigned files" from Fn+Menu. By
doing that you will have all files with assigned notes underlined!
Menu item "Menu 2 (Fn+Menu)" is added to "View" menu group to ease the use of
new Buttonbar functions.
Some functions settings are now preserved, like "Show opened files", "Show
assigned files" and "Disable Browser refresh" (all from Fn+Menu group).
2) Toolbar buttons can be additionally customized. You can dynamically change them,
like Note+ Buttonbar, by pressing Ctrl, Shift or Fn. So you have 4 sets of toolbar
buttons at hand.
All button captions are editable too.
Toolbar setup is now reachable from the new button on main "Settings" dialog -
"Set Toolbar". From here, dynamical toolbars can be checked on, button captions
edited and commands (out of 26) assigned to buttons.
3) Hex Editor/Viewer changes:
Enabled direct editing - on screen, both in Hex and ASCII view.
You switch this mode on/off with Fn+Enter or via menu. So, now 2 editing modes
are available - "Direct edit" and "Edit box", whichever suits you best Wink
In Hex mode you edit/enter hex values and in ASCII mode, characters/strings.
Now by pressing DEL on current byte, you can delete/remove it from file.
Of course, mode of operation is different if you edit some OPL file from editing
other files. As usual, if removing byte from OPL file, procedure table values will be
recalculated. Beware, if you don't know what you are doing, better avoid this
feature Wink
When jumping to offsets, found offset is displayed in the 5th line (when possible) in
order to get more context to view without unnecessary scrolling (Thanks, Leo Smile
The same works for switching Hex and ASCII view mode.
4) A lot of small improvements done in many procedures to keep View+ run smoothly
now when the execution file came dangerously close to 500K Wink
A problem (OK now, Kees Smile with previewing MBM's with 100 and more bitmaps has
finally been fixed. It's about jumping to bitmaps with Ctrl+G in all (MBM) preview
dialogs.
5) Two more Note+ colour schemes added to "Note+_colour schemes.zip".
"Silver" and my favourite "Blue" Wink
6) Kees van den Straten has kindly contributed an English translation of his article
on View+, published in PDATotaal.Info paperback magazine (no.5 of July 2005).
It is a Psion word file named "View+.wrd" and can be found in distribution zipfile.
It is very informative and an excellent starting point for using View+. Certainly,
it couldn't have touched the most of View+ issues, which still wait for you to
explore them
Also, a second INI file, "View+2.ini" is introduced on Kees's initiative
1) Since Leo is the most responsible person that the version 2.00
is released, it's most appropriate that he explains the novelties
that could be found in this View+ release. Actually, he ordered
and directed most of them, namely TLR (Text Line Remover).
Please read this highly inspired review, "The Phoenix of View+".
The reasons of a sudden jump from ver. 1.30 to 2.00 could be found
there too.
Author of View+ is not responsible for the views and judgements
expressed in the review
2) Last but not least, ver. 2.00 contains the following improvements, too:
- Improved Hex module and, in particular, Email Viewer (re-written).
- Main View+ Toolbar can be customized via Menu>"Set toolbar" menu item.
- Added "CL Alias list" menu item to Menu>Files menu group.
- Added "Disk Info" menu item to Menu>Tools.
- "Active tasks" got new dynamic window sizing.
- Added "Count lines" to text&OPL viewer.
- Note+ speeded up and new asc/desc sort sign added to info line.
- "Drag window" can be accelerated by using Ctrl/Shift/Fn keys.
- many other visible and unvisible improvements/polishing.
3) IMPORTANT NOTE:
View+ from this version takes use of the great OPX library, MD5.opx
by Kondo Reishi. Since there is no WINS version of this library and in
order to keep View+ compatible to PC EPOC Emulator, a new View+
application engine ("engine.md5") is automatically installed.
In order that all services of this engine could be used, the user should
install provided md5opx SIS file, "md5opx_v.0.03a.sis"!
It must not be installed on the Emulator!!
All details about usage of this library are contained in Leo's review.
Also, 2.00 installation SIS file will NOT remove your old INI and DAT files!
It will overwrite only essential application dependant files!
4) Merry Xmas and a lot of happy moments with View+ in the New Year!!!

Posted: Sat Dec 31, 2005 6:30 am Post subject: View+ 2.1 added "Open With"
Hello,
Edo repaired a little bug in his program, but he give us something extra's
" Fixed small bug in ver. 2.00 and took an opportunity to add a feature to
"Open with". Now it is possible to assign more than one program to the
same file extension. (OSG asked for it) Wink "
Here some notes from Edo and the improments of the program.
A note: Place Vcl.vcl file into View+ instalation folder. You can safely delete
VCLAlias.dat, which is replaced with this new file. If you want to keep your
old VCLAlias.dat file, just rename it to Vcl.vcl.
For impatient users here is a (uncompleted) list of improvements:
1) Zip archives
A) Batch zipping/unzipping (Sh+Ct+Z and Sh+U on selected files)
B) Sorting archive (by name, date, size)
C) New button to select all files at once
D) opening JAR files (basically Zip archives)
E) faster archive opening
2) VCL (View+ Command Line)
A) added several new params
B) VCL file_lists (.vcl) can be sorted
C) VCL file-lists (.vcl) can be viewed with Fn+Enter
D) EMX EXE files - can be used names only in command line, like UNZIP.EXE
E) BAT+ files can contain more lines of commands etc...
3) OpenWith
BAT+ files and VCL files (.vcl) can be assigned to filetypes.
Also, BAT+ files can be created, edited, saved from OpenWith Setup dialog.
OpenWith Setup dialog is opened with Shift+A now.
If file has no extension, there is a new dialog to handle it...
4) A whole new View+ sub-system added: LOG
Major actions are automatically logged. All errors too.
Log window can be opened by pressing DOT (.) from Note+ or Ct+L from VCL.
Log entries can be added, edited, searched... and a lot more via menu.
5) Big images are now opened in full screen.
6) New RENAME dialog, with letter case changing.
7) Files can be renamed on fly while pasting them.
Cool Smarter "Mimic Shell" routine - completely like system shell.
9) Faster mass operations on files, like delete, copy etc...
10) Added basic sound (record) player...
11) Ctrl+Q in Note+ behaves like System Shell and memorizes used folders for each panel separately.
Sh+Q can be now used to get/open list of all drives.
12) Hex values can be searched&replaced in Find+
13) Improved Note+ interface
Added clock and voltage (tapping it brings system date/time dialog etc...)
Disk gauge (info) added for each panel (free disk space).
14) A lot of fine tunings done in Note+ and elsewhere...
Ctrl+R on selected files brings Multi-Rename Tool.
Ctrl+P on selected files brings Multi_Attrib Tool
Text Line Remover is opened with Shift+L
New md5 checksum file-list can be created with Sh+M
Pressing MINUS ("-") lists all selected files in multi-page folder panel.
15) Fixed all known bugs like Edit and Assign Buttonbar in Note+ when V+ is first time installed etc...
Today Edo released a 5MX version of View+.
Push here for the download. You need the 5MX OPX-files push here for the download.
View+ for 5mx / MC218 Psion machines
Version 2.16 of 17.09.2006.
-----------------------------------------------------
1) This is the first official release for 5mx / MC218 Psions.
Since View+ has been primarily designed for big color Psions, a lot of
hard decisions (read: compromises!) had to be made in order to bring
View+ to BW machines with less screen space and processing power.
Users that already tried View+ on color machines will notice that many
dialogs are changed (stripped) and some (useful?) features omitted.
Anyway, I hope to have succeeded in keeping the spirit and strength
of the original program.
New users are strongly recommended to carefully read provided
documentation (sorry - no usual help file!). Also, it is useful to visit
View+ forum to get help from experienced users:
www.viewplus.myfreeforum.org
Shortly, it's been a painfull job and I can only hope that users will
enjoy using View+ on their smaller Psions.
2) Some hotkeys in Note+ Browser (File Manager) had to be changed
due to different keyboard layout:
Switch on/off buttonbar - from Fn+2 to Shift+B
Toggle date/size - from Fn+1 to Shift+S
Show filename if too long - from Fn+3 to Shift+W
IMPORTANT:
STDLIB Library (Estlib.dll) must be instaled in your /System/Libs/ folder.
Stdlib.SIS can be found in OPXs.zip.
If you want to use IMGTRANS.EXE for image converting, just extract it to
your View+ instalation folder. It is provided in View+ instalation package!

1) Fixed assigning VCL file in "Open with" dialog (used to open it
in edit mode when selected, although it cannot be edited there,
like BAT+ files).
2) Added option to Note+ File Manager ("Settings">"Misc")
"Calculate free space". When Copy/Move, if this option is set,
free space on destination drive will be calculated. If file size to
copy/move is bigger than free space, a warning dialog will be
raised and operation canceled (Thanks Leo).
3) Fixed setting file's timestamp to 00:00:00 (h:m:s). Thanks Fritz
