Spectrum Emulator V4 by Palmtop BVHas anyone written a patch yet to make sound work with this emulator on the Netbook/Series 7?
It seems odd that sound works fine on the 5mx!!
...or am I better off running a PC DOS Spectrum emulator via XTM? Seems like cheating but it might work

Spectrum soundHi Adam,
Try this: http://pscience5.myfreeforum.org/ftopic147.php
No sound yet, but at least some progress. It wouldn't even be so bad if the program would just default to 5mx mode, but no - it has to use the full screen, and no sound. Pity.

Hi,
Thank you for the reply.
I will also try the C64 emulator as that has sound (I think!)
Not sure what the result will be if I try the Spectrum DOS emulator via XTM....

Hi Adam,
Give it a go, and see how you get on
My bet is that it'll be as slow as sheughwater, but you never know!

Hi,
C64 Emulator has no sound either
Will let you know how the DOS emulator goes!

Other possibility: AFAIK the sound system on both machines is the same; any possibility to hack the app to make it think it's running on a 5mx? Just a thought... (maybe they goofed up in the NetBook version, and just released a half-arsed alpha for the big screen?)

Hi,
Sounds good..where do I start though?
Just found some emulators for DOS that will run on slow 'PC' machines and make use of the internal speaker. Will give them a go...

After several attempts with various 8-bit emulators via XTM, I have given up!
Warajevo was the only one I got to start and that crashed as soon as you tried to run a program.
The more I use XTM, the more weakenesses I find.
Roll on Pocket DOS - if they ever release an EPOC version!
