Pscience5 bandwidth issuesI've been notified by my hosting company that the Pscience5 site is getting near to it's monthly bandwidth limit (10GB). Since they charge what I consider to be a fairly hefty fee for every GB that you exceed this by (£5/GB), I'm trying to think in advance about how best to handle things. I can think of a few suggestions off the top of my head and I'd be interested in people's views before I make any decisions.
If anyone has any suggestions not included in the poll then please add them below - thanks!

If you want, I wouldn't mind hosting some files on my own server.

Martin,
In the Netherlands, you can get free disk space by your provider.
Is it possible to split the site to several providers?

Thanks for all the feedback, comments, emails, etc. that I've received on this over the past few days. As a short to medium-term solution I've decided that - since Psion's own software (e.g. PsiWin, support files, manuals, etc.) is a) very large (and hence a bandwidth hog), and b) still available - I'll simply point to their existing download URLs instead of my own for the time being. There's little risk involved in doing this since I still have both local copies and also online copies of everything so should their website go offline, I can switch back very easily. Most users won't notice any difference - the web pages will stay the same for all intents and purposes.
Joel - thanks for the webspace/mirrors offer but I won't need them for the time being at least - please can you remove? Thanks!
Thanks,
Martin

All offline then. But if you ever need them on again, give me a shout.

This may not be very helpful. But with the demise of many Psion websites I find yours to be one of the better ones. I for one want your website to stick around apart from being able to swap information and to be able to find such rare gems as yours has. I was wondering asking the public who frequent your webiste for donations using Paypal. Hope this helps

Thanks for the vote of confidence - I have no plans for Pscience5 to disappear any time soon. I've certainly thought about the use of a PayPal button and if necessary it's something I might do in the future. However, I've already been able to cut my bandwidth use by almost a third simply by linking to the Psion files that are still on Psion's site. No real change for people looking for stuff - and no real risk since I have local copies of everything that I can reinstate if necessary.
I'll see how it goes but I've certainly bought myself some breathing space for now.
