New EPOC software for 2006Hi again
I'm thinking of writing the following software for EPOC32 over the next few months, just wanted to get people's view on whether they think they will be the demand.
1/ VisEPOC - A Visio-style flowcharting and diagramming tool
2/ PsiUML - a UML tool for the Psion (or do the Java UML tools out there run under the EPOC32 JVM, I haven't tried?). May be a module for 1/ above
3/ MindPsi - a graphical mind-mapping tool. PsiMind is great, but a tool that lets you create a mind-map using the touch-screen as if you were sketching it out on a whiteboard would be cool, I think.
I've been out of the Psion scene for ages, so please let me know if this software has already been written!

They all sound very interesting!
I am looking forward to see these softwares on my Psion
Jonas
BTW: Rumors have said that PocketDOS will come out this year...

Thanks Jonas, I hope to release one of these at least this year
PocketDOS - I've seen this mentioned on various Psion/EPOC sites for years, but the pocketdos website does not mention anything about an EPOC version. Maybe they are considering a version for Symbian mobile devices?

I had a look on this forum post:

They need to rewrite their program first, then they will have it easiert to port it on Symbian...

Hi Phil,
It's always great to see some new things happen in the Psionscene!
As a dedicated Psioncollector and user I'm also interested in your work.
Keep us informed.
Many Psiongreetings from the Netherlands,

I wonder if anyone has an estimate of how many functional Psions are out there, and whether there is a way of ensuring the maximum number possible get into the hands of people that will actually use them?
I know I'm preaching to the converted here, but ER5 (IMHO) remains the best Palmtop OS ever developed, and the things you can do with a 5mx (for example) leave the competition spluttering in the dirt. OK, there is cool stuff like multimedia, but there's no reason why any of that couldn't be implemented in ER5 with a fast enough processor and a nice colour screen.
There is still potentially a lot that can be done... the Psion scene isn't dead yet!

Ah, MindPsi, yes that would be good. I currently use PsiMind on the netBook and MindManager on the PC - both vital tools, though PsiMind is very limited.
If you go down that track then some sort of export into an outlined EPOC word file would be good. From there it is a small jump to an outlined MS Word file and then an import into MindManager. If your MindPsi also supported import of outlined text, then a complete round trip is possible.
Now holding my breath ....

The application Orga is a tool to draw organization charts.
Orga's main features are
Easy to use graphical interface
Automatic layout of organizational units
9 levels of zooming, from 3 to 800 percent
Pen support
Cut, copy and paste of single organizational units or whole branches of units
Various options to design the appearance of units
Different frames, shadow and line types
Printing fully supported
Particularly, i'd very happy if anyone decides one day to port latex to epoc (via epocemx)... that would be great.

Thanks for the links, these programs look good, I will check them out.
I would like to maximise the use of the touchscreen, i.e. drag and drop shapes onto the workspace, and click on a shape to drag out a connector, and so on, and minimise the use of menus.

You are planning to develop them in OPL, don't you?

Hi Jonas, yes, most likely OPL although i am currently learning C++ so I might give it a go using the C++ SDK
