Help with OS.img upgrade

Hello Psion community,

I hope your collective acumen can help me. I recently purchased a net book from EBay. Worked great until...

I downloaded the latest OS image because I wanted to use an Ethernet card with the netbook. I followed the instructions included with the .img file (transferred the file to cf card and renamed with netbook to "OS.img") but when I replaced the battery the title screen came up, "my school book, my way to knowledge, One-Ed.com" but the cf card is not accessed to install the new OS. The system freezes on the title screen. Any advice or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank you!

It doesn't work, because you have a MBook and not a netBook.
The MBook need an other OS than the netBook.
You need the:
* MB_281UK.IMG - Version: 1.05 (281) – English (UK) – ASCII (Release 158) (for mBook)

Thanks Kees!

That explains it. Thank you for the information.

I wonder if you know where I might obtain a copy of:

MB_281UK.IMG - Version: 1.05 (281) – English (UK) – ASCII (Release 158) (for mBook)

?

Hello,

Try:

Should be the right one.

Thanks for the information and the link, Kees and Adam! I've been able to obtain the original OS.img for the MBook and also downloaded the cumulative patch. Now I just need to bpatch them together (ahhh there's the rub). How to do this? I read instructions for bpatch and there pretty straight forward. What I don't know how to do is run the program on my Mbook. I need software that provides a command line. If your brains aren't hemorrhaging from already having been picked Wink please let the font of wisdom continue to flow. Thank you!

That's a workshop of how to use bpatch. It's in German, you might try to translate it with this page:

Good Luck, Jonas

P.S. I have the already patched OS with a different clock on my server:

Jonas thank you for the tutorial and the translator. I followed your link and really like the replacement clock you devised. It would be easiest for me simply to download your patched OS. Thank you for creating it! I wanted to clarify first though if your OS is for the Mbook (which I have) or the standard Netbook. Please let me know. Thanks again!
Jonas

Sorry, it's just for netBook, but you may follow my workshop about editing OS.img with XTEP to get such a nice looking clock:
