To sum it up, FileNote is a swiss-army utility designed to give more control on handling things on your Series 80 communicators. I've been told that if it's not for the limitation in the OPL Runtime in Series 80, Edo would have port ViewPlus stock and barrel to FileNote. To support his brilliant ideas, i-Symbian.Com made FileNote's SIS files available from our website. Please download it by clicking the screenshot below :

FileNote - INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

1) Install OPL runtime
FileNote is OPL written program and requires OPL runtime. The latest version of the OPL runtime can be found at :

http://opl-dev.sourceforge.net/opl9500.html

FileNote is optimized to best run with latest runtime version 1.56.

2) Install OPX libraries
Run supplied file "9500-opx-public-2006-11-01.sis". It contains all necessary (Symbian standard) OPX libraries.

3) When started first time, FileNote will create 3 folders:
C:\System\Apps\FileNote\Data\
C:\System\Apps\FileNote\Plugins\
C:\System\Apps\FileNote\Skins\
All "notes" (file descriptions) will be automatically stored in \Data\ folder. You will be able to create new file desscription databases and change/save old ones.
Several useful plugins like HexEditor.opo, Decompiler.opo, Compactor.opo, FreeCrypt.opo etc... are placed into \Plugins\ folder.
All "skin" files (colour configuration files) must be placed into \Skins\ folder.
"Default" skin will be automatically created after first start of FileNote. Also, you can place other skin files into this folder.

4) Installing plugins
Various plugin/macro files can be used from FileNote. Plugin files must be placed into \Plugins\ folder.
Press dot (.) in FileNote and you will get a Macro panel window. Create a shortcut to plugin file by pressing Ctrl+N or Enter on empty slot. Choose "Plugin". Name your shortcut. It's handy to assign a hotkey to it. You can run plugin either from Macro panel (with Enter or pressing a slot letter) or via hotkey (FileNote may be in the background).
For more detailed explanation of plugins use and creation, see supplied file "FNMacroLib_???.txt".

A lot more plugins/macros, skins and other useful info can be found on FileNote group (register to join):

Changes in FileNote v. 212:

- FileNote macro interface updated to service new Macro5 compatible functions.
Over 140 macro functions avaialble! Macro system substantially improved.
Macro5 macros from EPOC (ER5) can now be easily ported to S80 OPL.

- From Macro panel you can set "startup" macro (Ctrl+U) and "switch on" macro (Ctrl+J).
If a macro with name "Foreground.opo" is placed in \Macros\ folder it will be run when FileNote
comes to the foreground. Also it works for the "Background.opo" accordingly.

- Shift+Ctrl+Q from Browser raises dialog with all available macros (to run and see About info).

- Assigned macro hotkeys can be also removed via button key in "Shortcut properties" dialog.

- Added an option to "Settings": "On case open" - do nothing or bring FN to foreground.

- Added a menu item in "Extras" - "Open with", for easier get around for novices.

- Added additional font size - "Giant". There are 6 levels of zooming now.

- Fixed problem that some users might have with exceptionally long folder names.
The previous max. folder name length was 100 characters and now is set to max 255.
Also max number of displayed subfolders now is increased to 8000. So in best scenario
you can view 8000 folders plus 8000 files in one directory

- "Java" app names are now read correctly from the AIF files.

- Activity log is substantially improved.
Automatic logging can be switched On/Off from the main Settings and from the Activity log
menu (it is saved in INI).

- Added option to edit (change) file UIDs in "Properties" dialog. Also a file checksum (uid4) is shown along with 1,2,3 uids.

- Added modified Pascal's macro SendKeyCode:
It is adjusted to comply with S80 OPL specifics and FN macro functions.
It can be used in "Program" to paste the SendKeyCode commands corresponding to the keys
you type. It is much faster and more reliable, in some cases, then using SendKey: function.

- Aded interface to enable new Bloetooth send plugin from File>Send>Via Bluetooth. Plugin is provided by Arjen. Thanks!

- Exhaustive FileNote and Macro Help Files added (prc and htm) - compiled by Martin - Thanks!

- Many more useful macros provided in Macros.zip file - included in installation package.

- Many other minor improvements.

A lot more macros and information on the FileNote mailing/discussion group.
