I'm considering buying the 32MB upgrade for the nB to up it to 64MB RAM.
However, I don't really store anything on the internal memory (as I imagine a lot of people don't anymore with the ever dropping prices of CF storage) and apart from Opera and nConvert I don't really use any RAM intensive programs.
Can anyone offer an opinion on how much performance improvement I'm going to see and whether it would even be worth it?
Thanks people.

Hi Jon. I too do not save much in the internal memory, but I do have the 32MB upgrade. I don't think you will notice any major performance improvement, although Opera will crash less. You can also download large files to C: (to move later), which will be quicker than writing them directly to Compact Flash.

I did the upgrade and don't keep much on the C drive. My gut feeling is that I wouldn't do it again because I haven't been aware of any dramatic improvement in anything.
Matthew - I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. I have no problem moving a large file from the PC to the D CF card via a card reader. It would take forever to the C drive via PsiWin. The speed is one reason I never backup my D drive via PsiWin, just via the card reader. Also I use a backup program on the PC which will backup incrementally, so backing up the D drive is even faster after the initial backup.

Thanks for the replies people, despite my terrible naming of the topic
Still not sure what I'll do but the advice is good, I do use Opera a lot so if it does indeed crash less it could really be worth it.
Ohsix - I believe what Matthew was saying was that if you are actually downloading, not from the PC via PsiWin but actually from the Internet. You see if you have broadband and can download say for example, at over 100kb/s, you will find the speed of actually downloading direct to the CF slot is far slower than downloading direct to the internal RAM (C) drive as the transfer rate of the compact flash drive is no where near as fast as the actual memory.
Anyone else have an opinion?

Hello Jon,
The price for the upgrade is now €49.-- by Pulster.

64 Meg Upgrade
The great thing about the 64Mb upgrade is that you can keep lots of applications running simultaneously.
At the moment I've got CityMaps, Money, SafePlace, TomeRaider, Agenda, Email and a load of other stuff all running simultaneously. Switching is fast (oh yes, I've also got FileSwitch running and the machine is a joy to use.
BTW I can thoroughly recommend Christph Pulster for your memory upgrade - I bought mine off him and was extremely impressed by the level of service. It originally went missing in the post and he supplied another free of charge. Fortunately the missing unit was returned to sender but you cannot beat service like that.

64MB Upgrade
Hello all.
I'd just like to say thanks for all the info and my upgrade arrived today from Pulster and oh yes, there's nothing like being able to have Opera and Email open while Agenda, QuoteOn, ExtraBars, TomeRaider, MBMView and Pdf+ are all open simultaniously with a couple of dozen Megs to spare
To anyone else who hasn't got the upgrade but myabe thinking of it, along with everyone else here I would recommend Pulster as the source, quick, easy and they have much more than the RAM, they have the power adaptors and batteries, even replacement keyboards and screens plus more.
If you don't read German drop in an email, this is what I did, got a quick reply in English.
