I must admit not having tested the encryption yet. So I'm still surfing without WEP and so far so good. I guess the less encryption used the faster the connection is?
The only part that makes me a little annoying is the fact that you can't choose the network yourself. The netBook always finds one and takes that connection. Sometimes it takes connection A then it takes B. Half an hour later when logging in again, after having logged out to switch WiFi card, it takes B before A. It would be a blessing to have some program which would let you choose the connection from a list of open available WiFi channels at that specific time.
What makes me glad is te fact that all my WiFi-cards (Lucent technologies Wavelan (NO WEP), Compaq WL110 andOrinoco Gold) are working great! Now I have to find out a way to let them work with my last ībargain` a Jornada 680(e).
Well, if someone really wants to use your encrypted WiFi (hack), he can! It doesn't care if it's 64 bit or 128 bit! If he can crack 64 bit he also can do it on 128.
There exists several programs on the internet which even let cracking WPA look like an easy thing.
So if you want to have encryption, you may use 64 bit for faster surfing (however I don't think there are big differents...)
