Martin: your comment today (main page) about PsiDat reminded me of something I've thought about for some time. I, and possibly others, have found PsiDat very difficult to use. Maybe there could be an article for those who don't use customers/stock/orders, etc., i.e., business usage. Some simple usages like CD music tracks, membership rosters, organized photo lists, etc. I know I don't use more than 10% of Microsoft Access, but I find the Query and Report functions helpful. Perhaps I'd be able to do things like that on my Psion.

Hi Keith,
In truth my usage of PsiDat is fairly specialised/limited - I've never really tried using it for 'real' databases. And I pretty much know nothing about SQL - which is what you need to understand I suspect in order to fully utilise PsiDat's querying abilities. That plus the fact that my time is not my own (I only managed to write the recent CF partitioning article by spending a few late nights - and suffered afterwards!) means that it'd take a lot of time to do this.
I'm not necessarily saying 'no' - just probably 'not now'...

I understand, Martin.
Thanks.
Masybe somebody else will see this and will write up something. Almost every write up I've seen about databases seemed aimed at the commercial world.
BTW, I don't even know what SQL is.

Hello,
For my music database I use SmallBase from Eric Sebban. My WindowsAcces Dbase from 300 mb was reduced to a 500 kb Smallbase
file, and additional 14mb mbm pics - covers CD -.
I can recommend Smallbae, for It is for more easyer as PsiDat, and has
more features as powerbase. |
