I got hold of a (very) forgotten piece of software, originally written for the Psion 3a. Its purpose is to provide a full graphical display of oscillopscope measurement data, collected by a tiny Radio Shack “ProbeScope”.
Radio Shack (in some markets better known as “Tandy”) included PC-based software for this purpose, but what could be more fitting than a fully portable read-out for such a small (battery-powered) device? This is exactly what Mr. Richard Teel did in the USA. He used the detailed description of the ProbeScope’s (one-way) serial data stream -as provided by Radio Shack- to make a Series 3 OPL/OPA program to display graphics quite similar to the PC-oriented original. The program looks rather structured, but I have no way of trying it on a Psion 3a.
I obtained Mr. Teel’s written (i.e. by email) approval to distribute his software for use and further development. He was in fact rather delighted for my unexpected interest after 6 or 7 years…
Would someone be willing and capable of “porting” the program to an EPOC5-version? Think of using a Series7 or netBook as a full-colour, fully graphical, portable oscilloscope! Anyone to take on the challenge?
All the software as provided by Mr. Teel can be supplied in one Zip-file, including the original PC-software.
The probe’s OEM, the German company Wittig Technologies also has an active support page for the product (original designation: osziFOX).
