The maximum is 1GB without partitions, 4GB with 4 partitions(?).
Warning: a larger card will be very very slow!

A 1GB CF will use maximum clustersize unless you make partitions on it.
I use a 256MB card now, which is slow.

I have had CF problems. I once tried a fast 256MB card (sandisk ultra II): the card couldn't be read. I tried a 256MB (Sandisk standard type): everything worked fine except ther program Street!??? Now I use a DaneElec 256MB, which works fine. The strange thing is: onther 256MB sandisk ultra II which was I bought for my camera does work on the 5mx?

Conclusion: you can't predict which CF will work and which doesn't. So: buy only a card in a shop where they will give your money back if the card doesn't function on your handheld device!

I have used a 2.2GB CF in my netBook without any problems (apart from speed).

If you partition a CF card for a Psion, how do you access the various partitions?

I never knew that!

I still find it amazing what EPOC will do considering it's supposed to be a PDA.

Obviously DOS/Windows does this, but I would never have guessed my Psion would do.

Are the limitations on the CF card in a PCMCIA reader the same or does the OS treat it differently, because I believe it does have a different amount of current supplied to it from what I've been reading.

Hi Martin,
I would like to thanks for your article about partitioning.I had a trouble becouse on none of all "Windows" computers in firm I weren't able to do it. So I tried it under "Linux". An amateur like me who saw this system for the first time should have the same problems as me: I have mount dev/hde1 and than system created partitions hde1p1, hde11p2, hde1p3, hde1p4. This is wrong way!
I had to write command dev/hde and than system created partitions
hde1,hde2,hde3,hde4. This was correct. After that was everything O.K.
Next problem you receive when you have mounted drive. My experience is that drive must be unmounted before partitioning and formatting!
At the end I have to apologize my English since I'm Czech and Eglish is foreign language for me Sad
